Twitter followers of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Bashir Ahmad, have engaged one another over the President’s photograph showing him among his classmates at their Katsina Provincial School in 1961.
The President, then a young man in the photograph, is seated fifth from left, with two White men presumed to be their school officials.
In the run-up to the 2015 and 2019 presidential elections, issues about the President’s certificate and academic qualification were campaign topics.
Again, at the ongoing case brought before the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal by the opposition PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the President’s certificates also featured prominently.
Consequently, Ahmad’s tweet about the President’s Form VI class photograph met with criticisms.

@BashirAhmaad First, according to the picture, the person referred is Mohamed Buhari and not Mohammadu Buhari. Secondly, when has pictures become a certificate. We are asking for the certificate he got after the picture and not the picture. I thought you claim to be a journalist? OKPO!
@BashirAhmaad ??? the fear is real… So picture is now your own definition of certificate? Bashiru, this your job can’t be an easy one… Defending someone like buhari can’t be easy ???
@BashirAhmaad Thanks for teaching us that the next time we are called for interview, going with certificate is not necessary. Just find your school picture and show them
Many of you talking rubbish here, with your watery university degrees are nowhere near as educated as a Colonel in the NIgerian Army. It’s a kind a illiteracy to not know what it takes to be a General in the Nigerian Army.
