The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed optimism in the outcome of its case at the presidential election tribunal saying the All Progressives Congress (APC) has damaged its own case.
The party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, spoke through their legal counsel on Thursday, August 1.
According to the PDP, the decision of the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari to close its defence early shows that it has nothing to show again.
The lawyer said the APC did not present a single witness or evidence and used only two days of its six days.
The PDP said it was not surprised by the party’s decision saying it did not want to damage its case beyond redemption.
Meanwhile, the presidential election petition tribunal on Thursday, August 1, fixed a date for the adoption of all the final addresses by parties involved in the petition by the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku against APC, Buhari.
As part of the hearing, the judge presiding over the matter, Justice Mohammed Garba, said the tribunal will adopt all final addresses on Wednesday, August 21.
The adjournment for adoption of final written addresses followed after lead lawyers to President Buhari and the APC announced that the second and third respondents were closing their defence in the case.
