Fire has gutted a four-bedroom bungalow belonging to a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ondo State, Mr. Muyiwa Jogbodo.
The incident occurred at Iju in Akure North Local Government.
The victim was nominated to contest for a councillorship position in the local government election that was supposed to hold last Saturday. It was postponed indefinitely because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jogbodo, who said he lost everything he had worked for, implored the state government to assist him.
“We are disturbed and concerned about this inferno. I left here yesterday afternoon with my wife to attend to a matter in Akure.
“A few minutes after, I received a call that our house has been gutted by fire. We rushed down to meet the whole house burnt “The fire lasted about 15 minutes. The way it happened gives room for suspicion,” he said.
