Babangida & 399 Others Arrested For Sponsoring Boko Haram

When ever I hear that politicians actually sponsor Boko Haram, I feel greatly pained. Of what use is it? what joy do you drive in seeing people die, seeing innocent bloods pouring out. I just can’ t understand the whole thing, theso are the same people that were supposed to be protecting the interest of the nigerian citizens, but instead they give out funds to terrorists to buy latest and sophisticated ammunitions to kill the citizens.

Is there joy in doing that or what?

Well, all thanks to God as some suspected individuals found to be Boko Haram sponsors and financiers and also other upcoming armed groups in Nigeria have been arrested.

Daily Trust reported that the whole crackdown is being led by a top intelligence officer whose hidden identity is overly necessary! he is being assisted by an army general who is leading the intelligence services.

The operation is coordinated by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), in partnership with the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and also the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The Central Bank blocked business accounts traced with billions of naira belonging to persons of interest. Can you believe that abiut 975 names came up (mainly bureau de change operators, gold miners and sellers, as well as other businessmen) as they are suspected Boko Haram sponsors. For now, 400 have been arrested.

That is an impressive number. The arrests took place in Zamfara, Kaduna, Adamawa, Sokoto, Abuja, Borno, Lagos, and Kano.

The sponsors in Kano consisted of BDC operators at the foreign exchange open market.

Those arrested in Kano are;

Mohammad Lawan Sani, Ibrahim Shani, Auwal Fagge, Yusuf Ali Yusuf (Babangida), Abubakar Yellow (Amfani) and Baba Usaini.

Right now, those arrested are kept in Military and DSS facilities in Abuja and other branches in the country. The families and lawyers of the suspects have come to deny these allegations but they were not allowed.
