The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi SAN has enjoined all religious adherents in the State to consciously uphold the virtues of love, unity and tolerance in the face of the multi-faith setting of the state.
This he stated at the Commissioning of the Government House Mosque, Akure Ondo State in commemoration of his first 100 days in Office as the Governor of the Sunshine State.
According to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, “the construction of the Mosque inside the Government House exemplifies the essence of our diversity, it represents the love and respect that we have for each other which we must sustain”
The Executive Governor of Ondo State explained that it is important to have a befitting place of worship in the Government House and what his led administration has done is to ensure that both religions are well represented. He stated that the idea to have the mosque built inside the Government House Premises was first introduced to him by the late Alhaji Khaleel Fawehinmi, who before his demise was the State Chairman, Muslim Welfare Board. According to him the Mosque is named after the Late Alhaji Khaleel Fawehinmi because he passionately pursued the building of the Mosque.
He also encouraged Muslims in the State to make good use of the Mosque, as he enjoined them to adequately ensure the proper maintenance of the place of worship which has now been placed in their possession.
Religious leaders who spoke at the event showered encomiums on the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN for doing the unprecedented among the leagues of Governors who have lead the State in time past.
A minute silence was held for the Late Alhaji Khaleel Fawehinmi which was led by Mr. Lulu Fawehinmi who on behalf of the Fawehinmi dynasty appreciated the Governor for immortalizing the late Alhaji Khaleel Fawehinmi.
Present at the event are, Commissioner for Works in Ondo State, Mr. Raimi Olayiwola, the Olugbo of Ugbo-Kingdom HRH Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinrutan, the Olowo of Owo Kingdom, HRM. Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, the Deji of Akure, HRN Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Chief Imam of Akure, Alhaji Addulhakim Yayi Akorede, Chief Imam of Ikare land, Sheik Abbas Mohamed Abubakar among a host of other important dignitaries.
