The bill was sponsored by Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (APC-Ekiti), Chairman Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters.
“We want to, first of all, appreciate our amiable Governor for the academic rejuvenation project he has embarked on since he resumed office. PMG cannot be less thankful and appreciative for the good news that the bill establishing the Federal University of Health and Medical Sciences has been passed by the House of Representatives.
“The benefits that would come with this institution would almost not be quantified. The drastic reduction in the unemployment database in the youth circle of the state is part of the benefit. The commercialization of the University environment is another profit the state stands to gain. Also, the establishment of the university would provide basic scientific training as a foundation for the development of medicine and allied disciplines.
“This shows Governor Kayode Fayemi is a tremendously positive influence on the Education sector of the Fountain of Knowledge.
“Also, PMG is happy to have the Federal University in Ekiti, being Fountain of Knowledge. Èkìtì State ought to have all academic institutions situated. Hence, it’s long overdue but we’re happy it’s finally here.
“We appreciate Senator Michael Bamidele, Chairman Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters for plotting this and bringing it home for the benefit of all in Ekiti State.
