INEC extends voting till Sunday

The Independent National Electoral Commission has extended voting in Anambra Governorship election till Sunday. This is to enable those that were unable due to the failure of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) machine to vote tomorrow. The machine failed in many polling units.
The resident electoral commissioner Dr Nwachukwu orji while addressing the newsmen said the v closing of voting been moved from 2:30pm to 4:00pm and the remain exercise would be continued on Sunday.
He said the machine suffered software issues as the commission engineers are already working on it.
He also stated that voting materials were not made available at some of the units and some ad-hoc staffs refuse to turn up at others.
He said ” Some of the transporter collected 50percent of their fee and refuse to turn up leaving their ad-hoc staffs stranded”
The commissioner assures voters and political parties to be rest assured as voting would continue tommorow.
Only units who were unable to vote today would continue tommorow their voting tomorrow.
He said that those who have be accredited today via the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) machine would not be in any disenfranchised tomorrow.
