Adeniran ogunsanya college of education (AOCOED) is now ‘Lagos state University of education (LASUED)’ and not ‘University of education, Lagos (UNEDLAG)’ as formally proposed.
It should be recalled that the Lagos state house of assembly on Thursday 1st of July, 2021, considered the report of the committee on education on the ‘University of Education, Lagos bill 2021’.
The bills, which scaled second reading on the floor of the House presided over by the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa committed to the House Committee on Education (Tertiary) to report back in two weeks.
Yesterday, on the 29th of December 2021, the House of Assembly approved the bill that AOCOED ( Adeniran ogunsanya college of education) is now LASUED( Lagos state university of education) with a status of sin campus.
Adeniran ogunsanya college of education is said to evolve as one of the products of missionary education in Nigeria and the recommendations from different educational commissions between 1900 and 1960 have developed from just a college of editions to a state university.
That is a great achievement for Lagos state and Nigerian youths as a whole.
