President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has appointed the Senator representing Kwara Central, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe as a member of the Nigeria End Malaria Council constituted to take necessary steps to ensure the establishment and operationalization of Nigeria End Malaria Council (NEMC).
The establishment is part of the process of implementing the African Union Assembly Declaration for the establishment of EMCs in Africa.
This was contained in a letter dated 19th April, 2022 and was signed by the Honourable Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire.
The letter contains, ” I am pleased to inform you that His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, has approved and directed my ministry to take necessary steps to ensure the establishment and operationalization of Nigeria End Malaria Council (NEMC) as part of the process of implementing the African Union Assembly Declaration for the establishment of EMCs in Africa.”
“The EMC is aimed at bringing leaders of relevant sectors together to work collectively towards strengthening advocacies, promoting accountability, and mobilizing resources to support implementation of anti-malaria strategies of Governments at national and subnational levels towards achieving malaria elimination”
“Given your prominent leadership role in the society and the positive impact, this could bring to our collective endeavour to end the malaria scourge afflicting our country. I am delighted to inform of your nomination as a member of the End Malaria Council (EMC)
“I look forward to your kind acceptance of this great responsibility.”
