With less than seven months to the 2023 general elections, the North West zone of All Progressives Congress has commenced political consultation for the presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in Kebbi State ahead of the 2023 general election.
Led by the APC North West Chairman, Malam Salihu Lukman, the team disclosed that Kebbi will be the first port of call to re-strategise and strengthen grey areas in the seven states in the geopolitical zone.
The development comes five days after a delegation of northern leaders, including Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, were assigned to meet with Tinubu over ‘vital concerns’ regarding his proposed running mate.
The decision was taken in Kaduna on Thursday after the defection of a two-term Governor of Kano State and Senator representing Kano Central Senatorial District, Ibrahim Shekarau, was announced.
Shekarau, whose defection was announced on Wednesday by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, during the plenary, had defected from the All Progressives Congress to team up with the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, in May.
