Lagos govt promises to prioritise workers’ welfare

The Lagos State Government has restated its commitment to prioritise the welfare of public workers in order to build a better service delivery.

The state Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr Samuel Egube, said this on Wednesday during the public lecture and Alausa Got Talent Series IV-Africa Day held to commemorate the 2022 Public Service Week in Alausa-Ikeja.

He said, “The theme of the public lecture, ‘Building back better from COVID-19: Enhancing innovative partnerships to meet SDGs – the Lagos State Government model,’ was carefully selected as it was meant to prepare workers for the task ahead and this will enable state public service to focus on the role of public institutions and public servants in building back better from the Coronavirus pandemic.

“This will be done while keeping the 2030 deadline for implementing the Sustainable Development Goals in focus. Despite COVID-19, the present administration will ensure that the welfare of the workforce is a top priority and the state’s workforce remains resolute at building back better, providing better service delivery, and bouncing back from the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, in his address, described the event as an initiative that will encourage all public servants to showcase their talents.
