Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received Senator Kashim Shettima’s name from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as its vice presidential candidate.
According to the party’s constitution, it was submitted on Thursday by Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the national chairman of the APC, and Senator Iyiola Omisore, the national secretary.
It was submitted 24 hours before the deadline set by INEC for parties to substitute their candidates for the presidential and National Assembly elections.
However, at Senator Adamu’s request, the unveiling, which was to be attended by prominent members of the party, including state governors, was postponed until the next week.
The Nation learned that the ceremony was postponed by the Chairman so that the party could repair some crumbling components of the structure.
“The chairman believed that a high-profile event like that should take place in a suitable setting. The reason the event was postponed was due to this, according to a very trustworthy source.
