The founder of the First City Monument Bank Otunba, Dr Olasubomi Balogun, has said that the reason for his organisation sponsoring the Ojude Oba festival in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, is due to the love he has for Ijebu and her people
The company has sponsored the festival annually for close to two decades, with the 2022 edition themed, ‘The Return of Ojude Oba’ after a two-year break occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking shortly before the event in his Ijebu Ode home, Balogun said, “God gave me FCMB and FCMB is part of me. FCMB must be interested in anything I am interested in.
The only way we can show appreciation to the founders and progenitors (of Ijebu people) is to participate in all the traditional undertakings that bring to the fore the culture and origins of the Ijebu. It is a unique event and I am very much involved.
“As a patriotic Ijebu, as soon as we started building branches, I brought FCMB here and the people have been patronising the bank.”
